On June 16 the Learning to Live Together manual in Romanian was launched at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest.
The launch
was organized by Sol Mentis Foundation in collaboration with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO and Arigatou International Geneva. More than 40 guests, including representatives of the National Ministry of Education, NGOs, schools and religious institutions participated in the launch.
Ms. Lucretia Baluta, Representative of the UNESCO National Commission for Romania and Coordinator of the UNESCO ASP.net shared the importance of the Learning to Live Together Programme in Romania and how the idea of translating it into the national language came about. She expressed UNESCO National Commission’s commitment to support its dissemination and training of educators in the country and through the Associated Schools of UNESCO.
Ms. Laura Molnar, official trainer of the Learning to Live Together, Representative of Sol Mentis Foundation and GNRC Coordinator for Romania, highlighted the work training educators in the country, particularly during the last year; she presented a video with voices of children who have participated in the programme and quotes from several educators who have been trained. Ms. Molnar also shared that the training of educators is now accredited by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Pedagogy for programs run in Bucharest, which has helped bringing the Learning to Live Together Programme to more teachers.
Ms. Maria Lucia Uribe, Secretary General of the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children and Director of Arigatou International Geneva, introduced the manual and its educational framework, She shared experiences from other countries and expressed her gratitude to UNESCO National Commission for Romania and Sol Mentis Foundation for their unwavering support before and during the translation process. She welcomes the collaboration with other organizations in Romania and briefly shared the systematic implementation process that is being planned with partners in the country.
Ms. Daniela Stoicescu, Educational Director of the Aletheea School shared her experience as a participant of one of the trainings on the Learning to Live Together and the introduction of the programme in her school. She shared how important the training has been for her to strengthen her work as teacher and engage children in a more powerful learning processes.
The event ended with a cocktail and an informal sharing with the participants to exchange views and ideas about the importance of this type of programs in the country.
