The First Meeting of the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children was held 15 May, 2005 at Hotel Okura in Tokyo.
Religious personalities, scholars, educators and people experienced in working with children and young people across religious traditions have been invited to be members of the Interfaith Council. Members of the Council review the concrete plans and recommended a future direction for the ethics education initiative.
At its one day meeting, the members of the Council reviewed the recommendation made by the Interfaith Council committees at its meeting in February in Geneva.
A message was adopted at the end of the meeting.
The establishment of the Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children was proposed by Rev. Takeyasu Miyamoto, President of the Arigatou Foundation and Leader of Myochikai, on behalf of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), a network launched in May 2000
