Objectives:

To reflect on the relevance of integrating ethics education to promote intercultural and interfaith learning into national policies and programs, and exchange ideas and recommendations on how today’s education can respond to the world’s ethical challenges, grounded on an ethical perspective of society, where schools and non-formal education programs understand themselves as part of a community and as key actors in fostering social cohesion and building peace.

Ms. Stefania Giannini

Ms. Stefania Giannini was appointed UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education in 2018, becoming the top UN official in the field. She provides strategic vision and leadership in coordinating and monitoring the Education 2030 Agenda, encompassed in Sustainable Development Goal 4. During her term, she has given fresh impetus to multilateral and bilateral partnerships; increased global focus on education's ethical role in providing learners with the skills to respond to 21st century challenges and heightened attention to the responsibility of universities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. She affirmed UNESCO's leadership in the COVID-19 response through global evidence, guidance, policy dialogue, and collaboration with public and private partners, including through the Global Education Coalition.

With a background in the Humanities, Ms. Giannini has served as Rector of the University for Foreigners of Perugia (2004 – 2012); Senator of the Republic of Italy (2013 – 2018) and Minister of Education, Universities and Research (2014 – 2016).

Dr. Silvester Ohene Mulambe

Dr. Silvester Ohene Mulambe is a Director in the Ministry of Education-Kenya in the Directorate of Policy, Partnerships and East African Affairs Community in charge of Policy review and formulation; coordination of mainstreaming of pertinent and contemporary issues in education; coordination of partners who are supporting the ministry, and coordination of EAC activities and promotion of EAC integration.

Silvester has a Doctorate in Research, Education Administration, and Management. He is a long-standing Education Administrator having worked as a Country Director of Education, Municipal Education Officer, Chairman Education in Emergencies Cluster Working Group, and Director in the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Activities. He has also conducted research in the area of Education and done publications and journals on the same.

Ms. Silvana Abdo

Silvana Abdo nació el 31 de enero de 1974 en Asunción, Paraguay. Realizó sus estudios primarios y secundarios en el Colegio Santa Teresa de Jesús y su formación superior en la Universidad Politécnica y Artística del Paraguay, donde obtuvo el título de Licenciada en Relaciones Públicas.

En el año 2007 contrajo matrimonio con Mario Abdo y juntos actualmente conforman una familia con 6 hijos.

Acompañó a su marido durante su campaña presidencial, recorriendo todos los rincones del Paraguay, teniendo la oportunidad de conocer de cerca la realidad del país y su gente.

Al frente de la Oficina de la Primera Dama desde agosto de 2018, Silvana Abdo se aboca a acompañar las políticas públicas orientadas al desarrollo y bienestar social, con énfasis en el empoderamiento de la mujer, así como planes y programas orientados a la atención de la niñez, adolescencia y juventud.

Asimismo, apoya a los sectores de educación, cultural y salud, prestando especial atención a la población en situación de vulnerabilidad, incluyendo los pueblos indígenas y las personas con discapacidad.

Bajo el lema “Paraguay de la Gente”, la Sra. Silvana Abdo centra su agenda de trabajo en cuatro ejes prioritarios: 1. Asistencia a la Primera Infancia; 2. Empoderamiento Económico y Social de la Mujer; 3. Promoción de la Economía Naranja, Industrias Creativas y Culturales, y 4. El Voluntariado como herramienta de transformación y desarrollo comunitario.

La Oficina de la Primera Dama está abocada a tender puentes de comunicación y coordinación, entre el sector público, la sociedad civil y empresarial, así como con las Representaciones Diplomáticas acreditadas en el país.

Desde agosto de 2019 hasta setiembre de 2020, ejerció la Coordinación General de la Alianza de Cónyuges de Jefes de Estado y Representantes (ALMA) integrada por las Primeras Damas de Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú y República Dominicana. La Alianza tiene por objetivo coordinar acciones conjuntas en torno a la niñez, mujer, discapacidad, juventud, migrantes y cambio climático teniendo como base la Agenda 2030 de Desarrollo Sostenible.

En octubre 2020, La Fundación Internacional Jóvenes Líderes le otorgó la distinción correspondiente a la categoría “Referente de la humanidad” durante la edición 2020 de la Cumbre Internacional de Jóvenes Líderes. En diciembre 2020, la Revista Amazons Watch le otorgó la distinción de "Liderazgo Inspiracional Global” en reconocimiento a su labor social.

H.E. Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam is the Secretary-General of the Higher Committee on Human Fraternity and a judge at the State Council of Egypt.

Judge Abdelsalam served as the former advisor to the Grand Imam of Egypt’s Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb for over eight years and assisted in drafting the Document on Human Fraternity signed by the Grand Imam and Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in February 2019. The same year, Pope Francis awarded Judge Abdelsalam the Order of Pope Pius IX Knight Commander for his services towards spreading tolerance and interfaith dialogue. He is the first Egyptian, Arab, and Muslim to be awarded this accolade.

Judge Abdelsalam represented Al-Azhar, the chief center of Islamic and Arabic learning in the world, in the constitutional assembly charged with drafting a new constitution for Egypt and participated in drafting Al-Azhar documents from 2011-2018. The Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt awarded him the Medal of the Constitutional Court in recognition of his distinguished representation of the Egyptian judiciary during his time at Al-Azhar and the Constitutional Assembly.

My name is Ikran. I am 18 years old, and I live in Nairobi. I am perusing a bachelor’s in information science at the University of Nairobi. I have 8 siblings: 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

I am talkative and I get along easily with people. I believe I am the kind of person you would not get bored with. I make friends easily and you would never see me sitting at a function. I always try to, at least, talk to everyone.

I love traveling, doing outdoor activities, and hanging out with friends, going to new places, and trying out new things. I love watching travel blogs on my phone with the hope that I’ll be able to create mine one day. I also love kids, so much that whenever I get the chance to visit a child’s home I feel so good. I also read novels in my free time and my favorite author of all time is Paulo Coelho.

In 2017, I joined Silver Lining Kenya, a community-based organization that is a GNRC member that advocates against FGM. After being trained and sensitized, I was chosen as one of the girl ambassadors to train fellow girls in my community. In 2020, I was selected as a member of the GNRC Children’s Committee, an international internship program of Arigatou International. Also in 2020, I conducted a project with other young people to sensitize people in my community against early marriage and the importance of educating girls and not marrying them. Currently, I am an intern at the GNRC Secretariat in Nairobi

I joined a storytelling group that brought children tales on the radio. I made a story about a fish that was almost extinct because of the dam, this story will be used in the climate change and biodiversity campaign.

I help to assist child victims of sexual violence by inviting them help to play and do activities together to get rid of trauma and sadness, even if it's only a little. I help children's mobile libraries by selecting books for them to read.

I joined a children's group that organized a Global Interfaith Week Meeting involving several countries in the world. Since 2021 I am a member of the Child Rights Connect Children’s Advisory team.

My name is Tudor, I am 15 years old, and I am from Romania. I consider myself a friendly and funny person, interested in traveling and meeting people of different cultures and faiths.

My hobby is playing basketball and in my free time, I like going out with my friends or reading books. I am passionate about history because you can learn from past mistakes, and history offers you examples of great leaders.

I feel motivated to help disadvantaged people, especially children because I believe that everyone should have equal chances in life.

I was attracted by the LTLT activities, and I wanted to get more involved. During my involvement in my LTLT program, I participated in a project for intercultural learning named “Me in the world of diversity”. Dr. Kezevino Aram

In the past 10 years, Vinu, as she is fondly called, has sought many creative ways in furthering the cause of children, through health care, education and poverty alleviation initiatives. Her professional training in child health has helped her conceptualize innovative programs for micro-level interventions and research inputs to macro level policies.

She serves as Assistant Professor at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and was nominated by the Government of India to the task force on Orphan & Vulnerable Children affected by HIV/AIDS. Some of the conceptual & programmatic work she is currently engaged in includes: Vulnerability Mapping of Rural children for Growth and Development, Child Friendly Village Initiative, Ethics Education and developing curriculum and learning opportunities for medical students in Child Health. She has many papers & publications to her credit. In Jan 2005 she conceptualized & edited the special issue of WCC's health journal ‘CONTACT' on the theme ‘ Children : A shared agenda for Human development' .

Vinu's involvement with the World Conference on Religion and Peace started in1989 when she was elected to the International Youth committee of WCRP. She has since participated actively in the leadership & Children's programme of WCRP and now serves as Member of the Executive committee of WCRP/ International.

She had her early schooling in Kohima, Nagaland and Gandhigram, Tamil Nadu. She completed her medical training from the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and Post Graduate studies from the Harvard School of Public Health, USA. The Awards she has won include the Best Junior Medical Officer in 1998, Albert Schweitzer Award & Fanchin Award at the Harvard School of Public Health in 2000 and the Outstanding Young Indian Award in 2003.

Coming from a family of Gandhians, she particularly considers it a blessing to have had the chance to observe and work with her parents, Dr. M. Aram and Mrs.Minoti Aram . Widely traveled, she speaks 6 languages & Music, Reading , People, Travel & quiet time with the family, is how she chooses to relax.
