Arigatou International is an international NGO committed to building a better world for children. An initiator and sustainer of partnership-based initiatives to secure child rights and foster children's well-being, Arigatou International seeks to maximize the potential of interfaith cooperation, and always strives to empower and involve children and youth.

Holding special consultative status with ECOSOC and consultative status with UNICEF, Arigatou International liaises and works jointly with UN agencies and other NGOs to foster cooperation within a rights-based approach to the profound issues faced by children and youth today.

The Arigatou International office in Geneva, Switzerland manages the Ethics Education initiative that works towards advancing ethics education for children, with an innovative approach to interfaith and intercultural learning, placing children at the heart of all that we do. It also serves as liaison office with UN agencies and child-rights-focused NGOs.

The Ethics Education Initiative functions as a Knowledge and Action Hub working together with a variety of partners in more than 30 countries with several programs that address the holistic development of children and youth. Some of the programs the office is engaged with include the convening of an International Consortium on Nurturing Values and Spirituality in Early Childhood for the Prevention of Violence with more than 25 international partners; the dissemination, adaptation and training on its flagship program: Learning to Live Together with children ages 6 to 18 years old; the collaborative work with partners in the promotion of ethics education for peace and resilience building; as well as advocacy programs in Geneva working collaboratively with permanent missions, child-rights based organizations and multilateral agencies.

Arigatou International is the co-convener of the Working Group on Children and Violence of Child Rights Connect and is a member of several networks and collaborative platforms.

Arigatou International Geneva is opening the position of Program Officer to support external relations, programming and advocacy efforts related to ethics education for children and children’s rights. Under the supervision and guidance of the Director, the Programme officer will be in charge of supporting external relations, strengthening our advocacy efforts and coordinating programs with partners.



External Relations
• Manage and coordinate collaborations with partners including program design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
• Liaise with and support the Director to build international strategic partnerships
• Develop concept notes, prepare grant applications, and presentations for meetings
• Conduct a comprehensive analysis of potential partners and donors to support the mobilization of resources for specific projects and programmatic areas
• Attend meetings with partners, when appropriate and required
• Collaborate with Arigatou International Resource Mobilization and External Relations Coordinator

• Design an advocacy strategy in consultation with other colleagues and partners to advance ethics education for children with different stakeholders at the global, regional and local levels
• Develop advocacy materials including talking points, briefing notes, position papers and advocacy reports
• Identify advocacy opportunities and organize advocacy events and campaigns with relevant stakeholders
• Represent Arigatou International in child rights advocacy meetings in Geneva

Program Development
• Support the coordination of the International Consortium on Nurturing Values and Spirituality in Early Childhood for the Prevention of Violence, this includes liaising with members and partners, organizing meetings, writing and preparing proposals; supporting consultants and facilitating discussions among members
• Work in close in close collaboration with programmatic staff members in the design of projects and strategic engagement with programmatic partners
• Provide technical inputs to projects and engagement with partners
• Work closely with the training division colleagues and other Arigatou International initiatives on opportunities for integrated proposals on specific thematic.

Eligibility Requirements
• Master degree in a field relevant to education , international development, peacebuilding or social sciences;
• Demonstrated knowledge of and at least three years of working experience with one or more of the following concepts and issues: intercultural and interfaith education, ethics, child rights, social development and peace education;
• Excellent experience in project management and coordination of projects with a variety of partners;
• Proven successful track record in resource mobilization;
• Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication skills;
• Excellent professional proficiency of at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish, Arabic is preferred;
• Experience coordinating platforms and joint projects;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Strong analytical skills;
• Strong attention to detail in all tasks;
• Excellent organizational skills: the ability to track and follow-up on various efforts;
• Good interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity: the ability to work in a multicultural environment and successfully interact with people from different cultural and religious backgrounds;
• Flexible work attitude: the ability to work under pressure and short timelines; the ability to follow direction, work independently and effectively learn and work in a multicultural environment as well as self-motivate;
• Desire to work with religious communities and interfaith programs. 

Reports to: Maria Lucia Uribe, Director Arigatou International, Geneva

Timeframe: This is a full time position, initially for one year with the possibility to extend. The selected candidate will start in September 2020. International travel will be required.

Location: Arigatou International, Geneva, Switzerland. Applicants should have a valid Swiss residence permit.
