Arigatou International participó en la 10ma Asamblea Mundial de Religiones por la Paz que tuvo lugar del 20 al 23 de agosto en Lindau, Alemania.

Bajo el tema “Cuidando nuestro futuro común ̶ Avanzando en el bienestar compartido”, la Asamblea reunió a 900 líderes religiosos de alto rango, jóvenes y mujeres de fe de 125 países, así como a 100 representantes de gobiernos, organizaciones intergubernamentales y grupos de la sociedad civil.

Arigatou International participates in 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace

Arigatou International participated in the 10th World Assembly of Religions for Peace that took place from 20 to 23 August in Lindau, Germany.

Under the theme “Caring for our Common Future ̶ Advancing Shared Well-being,” the Assembly brought together 900 senior religious leaders, youth and women of faith from 125 countries, as well as 100 representatives of governments, intergovernmental organizations and civil society groups.

Learning to Live Together Programme implemented in 30 schools in Kenya, as part of a peacebuilding intervention

Since May 2019, teachers in the counties of Baringo and Elgeyo-Marakwet, in Kenya, have been systematically implementing the Learning to Live Together Programme among students from 30 schools, following the Teachers Activity Book developed for the implementation process.

This is the outcome of the 4-days Facilitator Training Workshop help in April 2019, for 64 teachers on the use of the LTLT Programme. The workshop was organized by World Vision Kenya, and KNATCOM, with the technical support of Arigatou International - Geneva.

Outcomes and Learnings from the Pilot Program in Kenya

The Pilot Program to implement the Learning to Live Together (LTLT) Programme in the Tana River County came to an end, delivering positive outcomes, particularly in relation to its impact on children, teachers and the communities.

The initiative, which took off in September 2014, was developed by Arigatou International Geneva, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kenya (MoEST) and UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa, reaching 657 children between 9 and 17 years old.

Panel Discussion on Enhancing Peacebuilding Initiatives as part of the Geneva Peace Week

In November, Arigatou International participated in the Geneva Peace Week by hosting a panel discussion “Enhancing Peacebuilding Initiatives with the Integration of Early Childhood Development Programs” that took place on 4 November 2019.

Panelists discussed the importance of early childhood for peacebuilding, the costs associated with the lack of investment and quality in early childhood programs for children and for societies; the influence of issues like displacement, conflict, inequalities and violence against children on early childhood outcomes and what can be done to address them.

Programa Aprender a Vivir Juntos se implementa en 30 escuelas en Kenia, como parte de intervención para la construcción de paz

Desde mayo de 2019, los maestros en los condados de Baringo y Elgeyo-Marakwet, en Kenia, han estado implementando sistemáticamente el Programa Aprender a Vivir Juntos entre estudiantes de 30 escuelas, siguiendo el Libro de Actividades para Maestros desarrollado para el proceso de implementación.

Este es el resultado del Taller de Capacitación para Facilitadores de 4 días llevado a cabo en abril de 2019, para 64 maestros, sobre el uso del Programa AVJ. El taller fue organizado por World Vision Kenia y KNATCOM, con el apoyo técnico de Arigatou International - Ginebra.

Training of Trainers to Reach 8,000 Teachers in the Horn of Africa

Ongoing conflicts and emergencies in the Horn of Africa have hindered regional and global efforts to provide quality education. Deprived access to education among youth has resulted in a rise in extremism and violence. In order to help mitigate the situation and avoid further escalation, a project has been designed, with the support from the government of Japan, to create a critical mass of teachers who can implement effective teaching and learning, producing economically productive and peace-loving youth.
