Parliament of World Religions: Ending Violence in Early Childhood - Working Together with Religious Communities

Arigatou International will be holding a panel discussion together with UNICEF on Ending Violence in Early Childhood: Working Together with Religious Communities during the Parliament of World Religions 2018, in Toronto, Canada and we want to invite all those attending the Parliament to join us on Tuesday 6 November from 12.15 to 13.45 in Room 718 A.

Violence against children violates children’s physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeing as well as their spiritual safety and development. Across regions, religious leaders are well positioned to help creating safe environments for children, challenging social and cultural norms that condone violence against children, and self-examining their own theological interpretations that can influence the upbringing of the child. This session focuses on discussing and sharing knowledge on the extent and nature of violence in early childhood. It will help identify actions, share good practices and reflect on the role of religious communities to contribute to the well-being of children and to peaceful and inclusive societies.

The Parliament of World Religions is the largest global interfaith event bringing together thousands of people of faith to address common issues. This year they are expecting around 10,000 people from 80 countries, under the topic of The Promise of Inclusion, the Power of Love: Pursuing Global Understanding, Reconciliation, and Change.
