New GNRC Youth Coordinator

Arigatou International has a new executive in its office in Geneva to work in the coordination of the GNRC youth activities.  Laura López Bech has joined the office in October 2009 to work in the development of GNRC youth groups, one of the priorities of Arigatou.  Laura will be in charge of supporting the GNRC youth initiatives and empowering the children and young people of the network.  Read more...

Laura joined the Arigatou International office to take up the position of GNRC Youth Coordinator, a new position open to help strengthening the youth activities around the world and to support the work of all the youth of the GNRC.

Laura is originally from Barcelona, Spain and she has been living in Geneva for four years. She has a bachellor in Political Science from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and a master in Social Justice and Education from the University of London. 

Previous to her engagement in Arigatou, she worked for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, the UNICEF Geneva Regional office and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She also worked as a volunteer for Amnesty International Secretariat and the UK and Spain -Catalonia sections. She is currently involved as a volunteer in Children's International Summer Villages, CISV.

Laura speaks Catalan, Spanish, English and French and she is currently on her third year of Arabic studies.   She brings new ideas for the development of GNRC youth groups, expertise in education and human rights as well as interest and passion for developing innovative spaces for young people to participate fully in society. 

Laura has already participated in one of the youth meetings of the GNRC in Belgium and is fully involved in the preparations of a workshop for the GNRC youth Europe to be held in Geneva and of the Youth for Peace Workshop 2010 to be held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Arigatou International office is pleased to have Laura as part of its team and is looking forward to continue expanding and further developing the GNRC Youth.
