Capacitando a Facilitadores para alcanzar 8.000 profesores en el Cuerno de África

Los conflictos y las emergencias en curso en el Cuerno de África han obstaculizado los esfuerzos regionales y mundiales para proporcionar una educación de calidad. El acceso deficiente a la educación entre los jóvenes ha provocado un aumento del extremismo y la violencia. Para ayudar a mitigar la situación y evitar una mayor escalada, se ha diseñado un proyecto, con el apoyo del gobierno de Japón, para crear una masa crítica de maestros que puedan implementar sistemas de enseñanza y aprendizaje efectivos, produciendo jóvenes económicamente productivos y amantes de la paz.

Collaboration and Trainings with the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA)

Arigatou International - Geneva, in collaboration with UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) is developing a program on “Youth Empowerment for Peace and Resilience Building and Prevention of Violent Extremism in Sahel Countries through Teacher Development” in Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal.

Formación y desarrollo de maestros para la consolidación de la paz en el Cuerno de África

Arigatou Internacional Ginebra está colaborando con el Instituto Internacional para el Fortalecimiento de Capacidades en África (IICBA) de la UNESCO en la implementación del proyecto "Formación y Desarrollo de Maestros para la Consolidación de la Paz", cuyo objetivo es contribuir a la formación de jóvenes económicamente productivos y amantes de la paz a través de capacitaciones de calidad y desarrollo de docentes. El proyecto involucra a varios países del Cuerno de África, incluyendo Eritrea, Etiopía, Kenia, Somalia, Sudán del Sur y Uganda, y tiene como objetivo llegar a 8.000 educadores en la región.

How Transformative Pedagogy and Fostering Ethical Reflections Can Support Teachers during Covid-19 for Resilience and Prevention of Violent Extremism

As the sanitary crisis brought up by the Covid-19 pandemic forced almost 90% of the world’s children out of school, teachers are called now more than ever, to reinvent how learning takes place. Educators need to ensure that quality learning reaches children in inclusive and meaningful ways, addressing not only the curricular areas but also the emotional and mental stress that children suffer in these uncertain days.

To respond to this pressing need, Arigatou International Geneva, in partnership with UNESCO International Institute of Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) carried out a series of four webinars on “How Transformative Pedagogy and Fostering Ethical Reflections Can Support Teachers during Covid-19 for Resilience and Prevention of Violent Extremism.”

Peace, Resilience Building and Prevention of Violent Extremism in Africa: Working with Higher Education Specialists in Africa to Scale up the Reach

Arigatou International facilitated two online workshops for Higher Education on Peace and Resilience Building and Prevention of Violent Extremism. This was the last of a series of three workshops that make up the “Peace and Resilience Building and Prevention of Violent Extremism in Africa through Teacher Development” project, led by the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), and supported by the Government of Japan.

Teacher Training and Development for Peace-building in the Horn of Africa

Arigatou International Geneva is collaborating with UNESCO-International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) in the implementation of the “Teacher Training and Development for Peace-building” project, which aims to contribute to the provision of economically productive and peace-loving young people through quality teacher training and development. The project engages several countries of the Horn of Africa including Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Uganda and aims to reach 8,000 educators in the region.

Training of Trainers to Reach 8,000 Teachers in the Horn of Africa

Ongoing conflicts and emergencies in the Horn of Africa have hindered regional and global efforts to provide quality education. Deprived access to education among youth has resulted in a rise in extremism and violence. In order to help mitigate the situation and avoid further escalation, a project has been designed, with the support from the government of Japan, to create a critical mass of teachers who can implement effective teaching and learning, producing economically productive and peace-loving youth.

Una pedagogía transformadora para la construcción de la paz y la resiliencia en la región del Sahel

Arigatou International Ginebra facilitó un taller de capacitación de cinco días para la Educación Superior sobre la Construcción de la Paz y la Resiliencia y la Prevención del Extremismo Violento para el África Francófona. Este es el segundo de una serie de tres talleres que conforman el proyecto “Construcción de la paz y la resiliencia y prevención del extremismo violento en África a través del desarrollo del docente”, dirigido por el Instituto Internacional de la UNESCO para el Desarrollo de Capacidades en África (IICBA por sus siglas en inglés) y respaldado por el gobierno de Japón.
