Mt. Rev. Bishop Duleep De Chickera

Former Anglican Bishop Sri Lanka, and Ambassador to WCC Churches’ Commitment to Children

Duleep de Chickera is a founder member of the Congress of Religions and the Friday Forum in Sri Lanka; both of which are engaged in advocacy for good governance. He currently serves on the Anglican Peace and Justice Network and the Churches Commission for International Affairs of the World Council of Churches. He was formerly the Moderator of the Inter-Religious Working Group of this Commission and a member of the Anglican Oriental Orthodox conversations.

His ministerial interests include Inter-Religious dialogue and solidarity, Justice and Reconciliation for Peace, the Theology of Governance, Liturgy, and Life, and Asian spirituality. He has a Bachelors’ degree in Theology from Serampore and a Masters’ degree in the Sociology of Education from Oxford. He and his wife Geetha, a Lawyer, live in Sri Lanka. They have three children and four grandchildren, who they enjoy immensely.
